12 months off the Antidepressants.

After a decade long battle with being on antidepressants I'm very proud to say that it's now been 12 months since I took one of those dreaded pills.

It's been a three year pro...cess to get to here under the strict supervision of Dr Ashar Khan, Dr Rachael Daniels and Mr Shaun Burgoff. They all believe that while medications do serve their purpose for a certain amount of time being on them long term however is not the answer to overcoming and dealing with depression.

Everyone's circumstances are different and unique to the individual, for me I'm very lucky that my lifestyle and career allows me the time and freedom to focus on my own 4 pillars of personal well-being. (Courtesy of Shaun Burgoff) For the past 12 months I've endeavoured to do the following:

Exercise every day if possible.

Meditate every day and practice Mindfulness.

Be more conscious of my diet .

and ensure I get enough sleep.

This past year has had it's ups and downs and some days have been a hell of a lot harder than others, for the most part though I've tried to maintain a sense of calmness and peace of mind in the knowing that everything happens for a reason even though at the time we may not see it.

There are still a few personal demons that I need to deal with, like giving up smoking once and for all, working a lot harder on my business and sorting out my finances.

Change takes time and I've learnt it's not a wise idea to try and change everything in one hit, there are steps to creating lasting change, and it's best they all be stood upon individually.

If antidepressants are a part of your life and you feel as though you can't live without them I've been there and I know all too well that feeling. There is another way, it's not easy however, it takes time, commitment, and you need the right people around you to guide you through the process, but trust me, it's worth it.

To my very supportive family, friends, doctors, work colleagues, business associates, mentors and followers I sincerely THANK YOU ALL...

Right now, I feel the best I've felt in a very long time.

Mark McConville.
